Cansino, UP take down UST; Ateneo survives FEU

The UP Fighting Maroons took down the UST Growling Tigers, 98-82, in UAAP Season 84 on Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Included in the retooled Diliman-based squad is CJ Cansino, who was part of the UST team that finished as runners-up back in Season 82. In his first matchup against his former team, Cansino listed seven points and five rebounds.

Ricci Rivero tallied 19 markers and three rebounds, while Xav Lucero and former Gilas Pilipinas player Carl Tamayo both registered 18 points and eight rebounds.

The Ateneo Blue Eagles, meanwhile, continued their title defense as they survived the FEU Tamaraws' late rally, 79-70. Tyler Tio and Dave Ildefonso both had 17 points in the outing.

In other games, the De La Salle Green Archers defeated the NU Bulldogs, 59-55, while the Adamson University Soaring Falcons demolished the UE Red Warriors, 82-66.

UAAP games will continue on Thursday.
