Jericho Cruz bids NLEX goodbye as he enters free agency

Jericho Cruz might soon find himself in a new uniform as he bid goodbye to his team since 2019, the NLEX Road Warriors, amid the ongoing 2021 PBA Governors Cup.

The 31-year-old guard on Friday posted on Instagram a photo of him with NLEX coach Yeng Guiao and team manager Ronald Dulatre following their 109-100 escape of Rain or Shine in Antipolo City.

That game, though, could serve as Cruz' last with NLEX as he will now explore other options in the free agency market.

"Always thankful for you Boss Rod, Boss Ronald and of course CYG for EVERYTHING. To my NLEX Fam and coaching staff, LOVE YOU ALL! Goodluck on your next games. Thanks for a great run," he said.

Guiao said they have an offer for the former Adamson standout, though Cruz is free to exercise his rights as a professional player, even if it means leaving the team as they were just about to enter the playoff round.

"I don't want to interfere with his decision. I'll give him the leeway to make that decision, to exercise his free agency but we have an offer for him," said Guiao, without mentioning the interested team to tap Cruz.

"We will miss him if ever he indeed leaves us because he's been playing very well the past weeks. So we'll see, we're hoping he stays with us but we will see what happens."

The outspoken mentor added that Cruz' absence will be a huge blow to the team as he had been averaging 10.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.3 steals to steer the team to a 7-3 card.

Dulatre, meanwhile, told GMA News Online that Cruz' contract with NLEX won't expire until Monday.
