CJ Perez stars as SMB pushes Blackwater's losing streak to 23
CJ Perez led the San Miguel Beermen in dismantling the hapless Blackwater side, 107-88, as they grabbed a second win in a row in the 2021 PBA Governors' Cup on Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum.
The results saw the Bossing stretch their losing streak to 23 games, which dates back from their winless campaign in the 2020 Philippine Cup.
The 28-year-old Perez poured in a team-high 21 points to go along with six rebounds, four assists, and one steal as SMB improved to 2-2 after opening the conference with back-to-back losses.
Aside from Perez, veterans Marcio Lassiter and Terrence Romeo were also instrumental after they carved out 18 and 13 markers, respectively, while American reinforcement Brandon Brown dropped a double-double of 12 points and 14 boards.
Paul Desiderio scored 16 points to lead Blackwater while import Jaylen Bond finished with only nine points, though he did grab 17 rebounds. Blackwater fell to 0-4 in the team standings.
