Mike Harris sizzles for Magnolia in win vs Terrafirma as PBA returns to Big Dome
Mike Harris dropped a huge double-double in his first game for the Magnolia Pambansang Manok Hotshots as they routed Terrafirma, 114-87, in the 2021 PBA Governors' Cup at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Harris, who previously saw action for Alaska three years ago, listed 30 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, and two steals as Magnolia opened its campaign on a high note.
Calvin Abueva also posted a double-double of 17 markers and 11 boards in just 25 minutes of action while Paul Lee chipped in 16 points on 50 percent shooting from the field to go along with three rebounds.
Meanwhile, Antonio Hester and Juami Tiongson's monster performances went for naught as the Dyip dropped to 1-2. Import Hester poured in 21 points and eight rebounds while Tiongson had 20 markers.
The Chito Victolero-mentored club will try to make it back-to-back wins when they face Rain or Shine on Sunday, December 19, at 3 p.m.
The win by Magnolia marked the first time that a team won a game at the Araneta Coliseum since March 8, 2020, when, incidentally, the Hotshots fell to San Miguel to open Season 46.
That game was also the last match where the PBA allowed a live audience.
