Meralco taps Tony Bishop to replace Shabazz Muhammad as reinforcement for Govs Cup
The Meralco Bolts on Sunday announced a new import for the upcoming 2021 PBA Governors' Cup.
The Bolts named Tony Bishop as their new reinforcement, replacing Shabazz Muhammad.
Muhammad will not be able to travel to the Philippines due to a personal emergency, the Bolts said.
"We wish Shabazz the best in dealing with his family matters, and we are looking forward to welcoming Tony Bishop as our import for this conference," Meralco Bolts team manager Paolo Trillo said in a statement.
Tony Bishop is a US-born Panamanian who, according to Meralco, has been playing internationally since 2011. Bishop recently played in Puerto Rico for Mets de Guaynabo where he was one of the team's top performers. Bishop is also part of the Panama national team.
The Governors' Cup, which was initially scheduled for a November 28 opening, is most likely to be delayed to accommodate the arrival of the other imports.
