Falling short of BPC plum, TNT's Mikey Williams bags Finals MVP award

After falling short of the Best Player of the Conference award, sensational rookie Mikey Williams capped off his first PBA finals experience with a Finals MVP instead.

Williams keyed the TNT Tropang Giga's Game 5 win over the Magnolia Hotshots, 94-79, as they finally ended a six-year title drought in the league.

"We definitely put the work in. It's been a real challenge for everybody," Williams, the fourth overall pick by TNT last Rookie Draft, said.

"We are blessed to be in this moment. We will just enjoy it."

Williams, just like all series long, was pivotal in Game 5 after he poured in team-high 24 points, including four triples, alongside four rebounds, four assists, and a steal.

Williams also credited his teammates for giving him the confidence against more veteran counterparts in Magnolia such as Mark Barroca, Paul Lee, and Jio Jalalon.

"It took time to adjust but they made my job easier. I got to thank everyone behind me."
