Calvin Abueva named Best Player of the Conference in 2021 Philippine Cup

After five years, Calvin Abueva is once again named the Best Player of the Conference in the PBA.

Abueva bagged the honors in the 2021 Philippine Cup, besting TNT's Mikey Williams, teammate Ian Sangalang, NorthPort's Robert Bolick, and San Miguel's June Mar Fajardo.

The enigmatic Magnolia Hotshots forward tallied 934 points, ahead of Williams who finished with 843 points, Sangalang with 591, Bolick with 447, and Fajardo with 403 points.

This is Abueva's second BPC recognition after winning the award in the 2016 PBA Commissioner's Cup while he was playing for the Alaska Aces.

The 33-year-old bruiser was also nominated for the same award at the 2020 Philippine Cup, which was ultimately handed to Ginebra's Stanley Pringle. He was with the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters at the time.

The BPC award could serve as a confidence booster for Abueva as Magnolia tries to level the finals series against TNT Tropang Giga (2-1) when they collide in Game 4.
