TNT guns for commanding 2-0 edge vs Magnolia in Game 2

TNT Tropang Giga will shoot for a 2-0 series advantage against the Magnolia Pambansang Manok Hotshots when the two teams collide in Game 2 of the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup finals on Friday.

The game is set at 6 p.m. with Tropang Giga head coach Chot Reyes hoping for more improvement from his wards after they pulled off a decisive 88-70 Game 1 win on Wednesday.

The seasoned mentor said their focus is to polish their game plan, both offensively and defensively, as they try to move to two wins away from the All-Filipino title the franchise last won in 2013.

"For us, all we've done is to get the first game, we have to now focus all our energy for Game 2. We don't worry about this game anymore, we just make sure we move on and think about Game 2," Reyes said in the post-game interview.

"We've been in playoff mode since the Ginebra game in the quarterfinals. Today was no different. Our only concern now is to get better."

Several TNT players had to be credited in their first win of the series, with rookie Mikey Williams leading the way after posting double-double output of 21 points and 10 rebounds to go along with five assists and two steals.

Big men Poy Erram and Kelly Williams also came out with 14 and 10 markers each but the veteran Williams remains doubtful for Game 2 after hurting his back in the previous match.

Despite their impressive opening win, Reyes said they should still be wary of the Magnolia team as TNT had also been on the receiving end of both blowout and close wins and losses in their past games this season.

"These things happen. We know this of all people. We've been on the receiving end of this as well in our previous games against San Miguel," Reyes spoke of Magnolia.

"Whether you lose by a big margin or lose by a point, it's still 1-0."
