GAB blacklists Daniel de Guzman for failing to appear in virtual meeting on game-fixing allegations
Daniel de Guzman has been blacklisted by the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) after the pro cager failed to appear in a virtual meeting set earlier today which was supposed to shed light on game-fixing allegations against him.
In a statement Friday, GAB chairman Baham Mitra said de Guzman will now undergo proceedings but his professional license will be suspended for the time being until further notice.
Mitra also warned that if proven guilty, de Guzman would lose his license for good.
"Daniel de Guzman didn't appear in the GAB virtual meet invitation today," said Mitra.
"For failure to appear, he is now blacklisted and admin proceedings shall commence. He shall not be allowed to use his license in the meantime and if proven guilty he may lose his professional basketball players license."
De Guzman's game-fixing allegations came to light when screenshots of a certain Viber conversation circulated on social media where he was reportedly involved.
In the said screengrabs, de Guzman, who was drafted 42nd by the San Miguel Beermen in 2019, allegedly gave a wrong tip on the result of the match between SMB and Barangay Ginebra on September 10.
De Guzman is not part of the Beermen's roster for this season but he is tipped to play for the team's 3x3 squad.
