Jimmy Alapag, Sacramento Kings claim NBA Summer League title

Philippine basketball legend Jimmy Alapag is a champion once again — this time on foreign soil.

Serving as assistant coach, Alapag helped Sacramento Kings claim the 2021 National Basketball Association (NBA) Summer League title with a 100-67 victory over the Boston Celtics in their championship clash Wednesday morning (Manila time).

Forward Louis King led the offensive charge for Sacramento after unleashing 21 points to go with three rebounds, and three steals while guard Jahmi'us Ramsey churned out 16 markers.

It was also an all-around outing for Emanuel Terry, who carved out nine points,
15 boards, and five steals in only 21 minutes of play.

The NBA Summer League is a tournament staged during the off-season,
with teams featuring rosters different from their usual lineups in the
regular season.

Alapag, a former captain of the Philippine men's basketball team more known
as the Gilas Pilipinas, was recently named to the Kings' coaching staff for a second tour of duty.

He joined the team back in 2019 in his bid to bring his coaching skills to the States. — LA, GMA News
