Bo Perasol formally resigns as UP head coach

Bo Perasol has stepped down as head coach of the University of the Philippines men's basketball team.
The outspoken mentor confirmed the news to GMA News Online in a message Wednesday evening.
"Yes it's true," he said when asked if reports about his resignation surfacing online were true.
"The UP administration and the Team management will issue a statement tomorrow morning. Thank you."
Perasol has helped revive the UP program in the past years.
After his stint with the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles, Perasol jumped ship to UP in 2016 to lead the way for the Maroons in Season 79.
He led the school to a finals appearance in Season 81, where they faced off against the eventual champion Blue Eagles, and a Final Four appearance in Season 82, where they fell prey to the UST Growling Tigers despite holding a twice-to-beat advantage.
Perasol also led an off-season recruiting haul for UP.
They got the services of standouts CJ Cansino, RC Calimag and former NU teammates Carl Tamayo and Gerry Abadiano, and recently, Terrence Fortea.
On June 18, reports about his resignation surfaced but were quickly denied by school officials who said Perasol was neither removed nor resigned as UP tactician.
