Bucks overcome Durant's 48 points to advance from epic Game 7 in OT
The Milwaukee Bucks had to overcome another all-time performance from Kevin Durant before defeating the Brooklyn Nets, 115-111, in overtime of Game 7 of the NBA Eastern Conference semfinals on Saturday (Sunday in Manila).
Durant scored 48 points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished out six assists in a phenomenal Game 7 performance.
He also scored 15 points in the fourth quarter, including one that tied the game at 109-apiece with 1.6 seconds remaining to force overtime.
But Giannis Antetokounmpo turned in a big performance himself with 40 points on 15-for-24 shooting, alongside 13 rebounds and five assists.
He also got some help from Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez, who helped seal the win in a low-scoring overtime period.
The Nets held a small lead at halftime, 53-47, behind Durant's 20 points on 8-for-14 shooting.
But the Bucks immediately wiped that out with seven unanswered points to start the opening period. Antetokounmpo scored four of those points, en route to 16 third quarter points.
Durant already had 33 points while Antetokounmpo 31 heading into the fourth quarter.
Milwaukee was able to go on a 13-4 run late in the game thanks to some big plays from Middleton and Jrue Holiday, who had struggled in the first half.
That run turned a 101-96 Nets lead into a 109-105 advantage for the Bucks with 1:05 remaining.
But Durant knocked down two big shots inside the final minute, including one that made it 109-109 with 1.6 left in regulation.
The Nets' Bruce Brown scored the first basket in overtime, 111-109, that proved to be Brooklyn's last basket as they went scoreless in the last 4:38 of overtime.
Antetokounmpo and Middleton scored the next two baskets and Lopez sealed it with two free throws at the end.
