NLEX says Kiefer Ravena needs to follow PBA rules, contract terms after Japan signing

The NLEX Road Warriors said Kiefer Ravena needs to follow the terms of his contract and the policies of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) in light of his recent signing in the Japan Professional Basketball League.

Following the footsteps of his younger brother Thirdy, Kiefer signed with B. League team Shiga Lakestars under its Asian player quotas. The team announced the development on Wednesday.

In a statement, NLEX said it supports Ravena's "desire for personal advancement."

"However, as a member of the PBA, we are duty bound to abide by the rules and regulations that govern the league," the Road Warriors said.

The ballclub also said it will stand by the agreement between their organization, the league, and the player which is under the Uniform Player Contract (UPC).

"The Japan engagement of Kiefer will need to conform to the terms of the UPC as well as the rules and policies of the PBA," it added.

PBA commissioner Willie Marcial previously said Ravena cannot play in Japan since he is still under a live contract with NLEX.

Should Ravena proceed with the Japan stint, he will join Thirdy in the B.League. Thirdy recently re-signed with the San-En NeoPhoenix.
