Thirdy Ravena re-signs with San-En NeoPhoenix
Thirdy Ravena is set to return for another tour of duty in the Japan B. League after the Filipino import inked a new deal with the San-En NeoPhoenix.
The 24-year-old high-flyer bared the development on his social media account on Monday, saying he will suit up once more for the Japanese ballclub come 2021-2022 season following a forgettable debut season this year.
San-En also released a statement to announce Ravena's signing.
"Mr. Ravena is under contract for the 2021-22 season under Asian Player Quota. This contract is for multiple years," said team president Kenjiro Hongo.
It was not long ago when Ravena ended his maiden season on a bittersweet note.
His team lost its final match last Wednesday against Shinshu Brave Warriors, 80-75, to cap off the season with a record of a 12-47 win-loss card and Ravena only averaging 9.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists.
Prior to the game, he already told GMA News Online that if he'll have it his way, he wanted to suit up anew for the Japanese club as he eyes to pay their trust forward.
He said that he was not fully satisfied with what he had shown in his first year, which was marred with visa issues, a couple of injuries, and contracting the COVID-19.
"Here in Japan, I really feel like I wasn't able to show everything. To be honest, I never had a game that I really liked and where I felt, 'Oh yes, this is my game and this is what I want,'" Ravena said.
"So if there’s a chance to do it again, I would definitely do it," he added.
But before he competes again abroad, Ravena is looking forward to flying back home after being away for more than a year now.
"Yes, I'm planning to go home but there are still post-tournament events like meeting with the fans so I still need to stay for a couple more weeks."
