Rendell Senining's suspension lifted conditionally by VisMin Cup

The Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup conditionally lifted Lapu-Lapu player Rendell Senining's suspension after he was cleared of game-fixing allegations following the controversial match against Siquijor on April 14.

"After much thought and consultation with the coaches, the VisMin management team has decided to conditionally lift the suspension of Mr. Rendell Senining," VisMin Cup chief operating officer Rocky Chan said on Wednesday.

Chan stated that Senining was officially cleared from game-fixing after their investigation into his case.

However, due to his actions in the game, the league had conditions for the lifting of the suspension.

First, Senining was made to issue a public apology to fans and players, which he did also on Wednesday.

"I would personally want to thank the Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup for giving me a platform and giving me a second chance to play the game that I love with three conditions. First, I would like to apologize to everyone — to the league and my fellow professional players — for my actions during the Siquijor Mystics game. I know that it was a very bad sight to see and I learned the mistake the hard way. I just want to say sorry sa mga na-affect," said Senining.

"Rest assured, if that situation happens again, I know what to do and what I will do will be the right way," he added.

Another condition is that if Senining will be involved again in such an incident, he will be banned outright from the tournament. The third one is he will lead the league's outreach activities, which he accepted.

Chan also said the investigations on the Siquijor-Lapu-Lapu game are still ongoing and they will continue to address the issue of game-fixing in basketball.

Senining on April 15 was initially slapped with suspension for the rest of the VisMin Cup season and fined P30,000 due to "acts disrespectful to the game" during the Siquijor-Lapu-Lapu match.

Some of his teammates were slapped with suspensions and fines as well. The opposing team, meanwhile, was expelled from the league.
