Barangay Ginebra's 'Bagong Tapang' jersey design is more than just aesthetics
Barangay Ginebra's new 'Bagong Tapang' jersey design is not just about giving the team a new look in the upcoming season of the Philippine Basketball Association.
Unveiled on Thursday, Ginebra's new jersey will also have a promo where fans can get a replica of it by collecting caps or seals of Ginebra products and adding at least a P100 for a jersey or a cap.
On top of getting a jersey, fans will also be able to help because the proceeds of the redemption promo will go to Gawad Kalinga's Barangay Walang Iwanan program.
"It's actually an activation that gives back," Ginebra brand manager Paolo Tupaz said in a virtual press conference. "We wanted to be able to tie up with a reputable organization like Gawad Kalinga because I think in these times, we want to use this platform, this opportunity, to try to help out, especially those who are in need."
Tupaz said the program will be able to help some farmers in Sariaya, Quezon and fishermen in Rizal.
A patch showing the GK logo will also be displayed in the redeemed jersey.
"We want our consumers to feel that they actually contributed something to the community. including that patch there is a validation that they were able to do that," said Tupaz.
Scottie Thompson said he is proud to be a part of this program.
"For me, personally, it's overwhelming. It's a big thing for us. They will be able to get our jerseys, and they will also be able to help," Thompson said in Filipino. "For sure, those who will receive their help will be happy."
