Barangay Ginebra ships Jerrick Balanza to NorthPort for draft pick

Barangay Ginebra made changes in their lineup two days before the rookie draft of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

On Friday, the league announced that Jerrick Balanza would be shipped to NorthPort Batang Pier in exchange for the team’s second round pick.

With the approved trade, Ginebra will now get to select the 13th overall pick of the rookie draft.

On top of Balanza, NorthPort will also get Ginebra’s second round pick which will be the draft’s 24th overall selection.

The move comes a week after Ginebra dealt big man Greg Slaughter to NorthPort and acquired the services of Christian Standhardinger.

Aside from Slaughter, Balanza will be with former Ginebra players Jervy Cruz, Kevin Ferrer, and Paolo Taha in NorthPort.

Balanza, who overcame a brain tumor surgery prior to joining the PBA, was part of Colegio de San Juan de Letran’s championship team in Seasons 91 and 95 of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. – RC, GMA News
