Meralco awaits PBA's OK in Blackwater deal for Baser Amer-Mac Belo trade
Hours after the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) approved the deal shipping Terrafirma's CJ Perez to San Miguel, two teams also made a major move ahead of the PBA Rookie Draft.
Meralco Bolts head coach Norman Black on Tuesday confirmed reports that their guard Baser Amer is being sent to Blackwater in exchange for Mac Belo.
"We handed in the trade papers and we are just waiting for the OK of the Commissioner's Office," Black told GMA News Online in a message.
PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial also confirmed that the league received the trade papers, which will undergo a review of the trade committee.
"Bigyan mo 1-3 days, depende pa sa kung anong usapan ng mga team eh," Marcial said in a phone interview.
Belo posted an average of 11.40 points and 5.30 rebounds at the end of the elimination round during the PBA's 45th season last year. Amer, on the other hand, listed 9.82 markers and 2.27 boards per game.
Amer has been a part of the Meralco franchise since being drafted in 2015, while Belo was picked by Blackwater in 2016. — LA, GMA News
