Jalen Green posts 20, Kai Sotto scores 6 as Ignite goes against NBA G League vets

Jalen Green dropped 20 points while Kai Sotto added six as the NBA G League select team Ignite went against the NBA G League veterans on Friday (Manila time).

Fil-Am Green was a point shy of becoming Ignite's top scorer of the game, which went to Jonathan Kuminga with 21 points. Green and Sotto registered six boards each.

However, their effort was spoiled by the G League vets, 125-99, as seven players scored in twin digits for the opposing team.

Ryan Taylor listed 20 markers for the vets, while Aaron Epps added 17 points. Dakarai Tucker and Isaiah Briscoe chipped in 16 apiece.

In their previous match, Ignite fell short against the vets, 113-107, as Green made 22 points while Sotto had five points and five boards.

Kai Sotto on Thursday reaffirmed his commitment to join Gilas Pilipinas ahead of the 2023 FIBA World Cup hosted by the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia.

However, it is not yet clear if he will join the February window of the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers as it depends on his schedule with the G League.

Sotto and Green are part of the NBA G League select team Ignite along with other basketball prospects such as Daishen Nix, Reggie Hearn, and Amir Johnson. —MGP, GMA News
