Stanley Pringle added to Best Player of the Conference nominees
He may not be a part of the top five players of the statistical race, but Barangay Ginebra guard Stanley Pringle is in contention for the top individual award of the Philippine Basketball Association's "bubble" season.
In an update by the league website on Friday, Pringle was added in the Best Player of the Conference (BPC) nominees because he "has a strong case for himself being the lead gun of bubble play champ Barangay Ginebra."
Instead of the usual Most Valuable Player award, a BPC award will be given since the league's 45th season only had one conference.
Other contenders for the top individual award include stats leaders Bobby Ray Parks, Jr. (TNT), Calvin Abueva (Phoenix), CJ Perez (Terrafirma), Matthew Wright (Phoenix), and Christian Standhardinger (NorthPort).
Meanwhile, in contention for the top rookie award are Terrafirma's Roosevelt Adams, Meralco's Aaron Black, and Ginebra's Arvin Tolentino.
The league will hold an awarding ceremony in which they will bestow the following awards: Best Player, Outstanding Rookie, Most Improved, Sportsmanship, and Special Team, or the equivalent of a "Mythical Five."
The historic bubble season ended last Wednesday with Ginebra defeating TNT Tropang Giga in Game 5 of the best-of-seven Finals series.
