Barangay Ginebra is crowned champion of the PBA bubble
Barangay Ginebra has been crowned champion of the PBA bubble after closing out TNT in Game 5 of the PBA Philippine Cup finals on Wednesday.
The Gin Kings bagged the All-Filipino title after 13 years, capping a dream bubble campaign which saw them top the standings at the end of the elimination round.
Ginebra beat Rain or Shine in the quarterfinals and had to survive a tough test old rival Meralco in the semis to book their ticket to the finals.
The Kings then met the Tropang Giga, who lost the services of key player Ray Parks from Game 2 onwards due to a calf injury. TNT also missed the presence of veteran point guard Jayson Castro in Game 5.
Barangay Ginebra quickly jumped to a 2-0 lead, but TNT roared back in Game 3 to make it a series. The Kings, however, pulled off a gentleman's sweep after taking the next two games.
LA Tenorio is named Finals Most Valuable Player after steadily leading his team in the series.
