Parks land on top of PBA bubble stats race
TNT Tropang Giga's Bobby Ray Parks, Jr. ended up at the top of the statistical points race as the semifinals of the Philippine Basketball Association's (PBA) 45th season wrapped up.
According to an update on the PBA website posted Saturday, Parks, who was previously at the fourth spot, posted an average of 22.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game to finish at the top with 38.3 statistical points (SPs).
Calvin Abueva, out of nowhere, came in second place with 37.1 SPs on an average of 15.4 markers, 11.3 boards, 5.2 dimes, and 1.7 steals in 12 games.
Terrafirma's CJ Perez landed at the third spot with 35.7 SPs. Former stats leader Matthew Wright dropped to fourth with 35.6 SPs after playing limited minutes due to an ankle sprain.
Rounding up the top five is NorthPort's Christian Standhardinger with 34.6.
In the rookie race, the league said Terrafirma's Roosevelt Adams and Meralco's Aaron Black retained their one-two posts.
Statistical points make up a majority of the tally for individual awards, such as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Rookie of the Year (ROY). Votes from fellow players, media personnel, and the PBA office are also considered. — LA, GMA News
