Phoenix' Matthew Wright leads stats race in PBA bubble


Matthew Wright of Phoenix Super LPG has emerged as the leader of the statistical race in the PBA bubble in Clark, Pampanga.

According to the standings released by the league, Wright registered an average of 22.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 1.4 steals per game to top the ranking with 39.5 statistical point (SPs) at the end of the elimination round.

Coming in second is Terrafirma's CJ Perez (35.7 SPs), who led the league in mean points with 24.4. The reigning rookie of the year also logged an average of 6.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 2.0 steals, and 0.6 blocks.

Jason Perkins, Wright's teammate, landed on the third spot, norming at 19.1 markers, 9.5 boards, and 2.3 dimes for 35.5 average SPs. TNT's Bobby Ray Parks has 35.2 SPs to rank fourth, while NorthPort's Christian Standhardinger is fifth with 34.6.

Among rookies, Terrafirma's Roosevelt Adams led the stats race with 20.3 SPs, while Aaron Black of Meralco has 18.7 for the second spot.

Statistical points make up a majority of the tally for individual awards, such as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Rookie of the Year (ROY). Votes from fellow players, media personnel, and the PBA office are also considered. —MGP, GMA News
