Wright comes in clutch as Phoenix beats Magnolia for semis ticket
It was the right time for Matthew Wright as he delivered the winning basket for the Phoenix Fuelmasters against the Magnolia Hotshots, 89-88, at the PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals on Saturday.
With nine ticks left in the game, Wright drilled the dagger trey which sealed Phoenix’s ticket to the semis. Paul Lee missed his last attempt to salvage the game, ending Magnolia’s six-game winning streak in the PBA bubble.
Wright listed 32 points and waxed hot from beyond the arc with five triples, while Jason Perkins added 16 markers.
Phoenix will face TNT Tropang Giga in a best-of-five semis series which will start on Wednesday.
