San Miguel Beer wraps up elims with rout of NorthPort


San Miguel Beer wrapped up their elimination round campaign with a lopsided win over NorthPort, 120-99, at the PBA Philippine Cup on Tuesday.

The Batang Pier had a solid start against the Beermen with a 30-24 lead after the first period, but the defending champions turned the tables in the middle quarters.

San Miguel led by as many as 34 points after scoring 76 points in the next 24 minutes of action while limiting NorthPort to 46.

The Beermen continued their assault in the final frame, refusing to let the Barang Pier come close until the buzzer.

Arwind Santos led SMB with 23 points, while Marcio Lassiter and Mo Tautuaa chipped in 21 markers each.

Kelly Nabong delivered a 29-point performance for NorthPort, which is already eliminated from playoff contention with a 1-9 card. The team will play its final game on Wednesday against Meralco.

Meanwhile, San Miguel holds a 7-4 card heading into the playoffs, though its final seeding will depend on the results of the remaining games.
