San Miguel Beermen snaps Alaska’s streak for win No. 3

The San Miguel Beermen (SMB) snapped the Alaska Aces’ three-game winning streak, 92-88, to record their third win in the PBA Philippine Cup elimination round, Saturday in Pampanga.

An Alex Cabagnot shot that tied the game at 82 at the 6:32 mark of the final period sparked the Beermen’s run to widen the gap, 88-82, capped by freebies from Marcio Lassiter. Vic Manuel broke the ice for the Aces, 90-86, but time was not on their side with 1:09 left in the game.

Arwind Santos registered another double-double with 17 markers and 10 boards, making five-of-seven triples for the win. Cabagnot listed 19 points and 7 rebounds.

Vic Manuel and Barkley Eboña combined for 36 points of Alaska's output, both players chipping in 18 points.

SMB now has a 3-2 card and will return to action on Wednesday against Meralco. Alaska, 3-3, will go against Terrafirma on Tuesday.
