Alaska escapes in clutch, snaps Rain or Shine's win streak

Alaska ended Rain or Shine's three-game winning streak in the PBA bubble after a come-from-behind 89-88 victory in the elimination round of the Philippine Cup on Thursday.

Vic Manuel took over in the clutch and scored the last six points for the Aces, who needed every single one to close out the game.

The Elasto Painters also rallied in crunch time after losing their 78-71 lead with under six minutes remaining, but Rey Nambatac's layup at the buzzer missed the basket.

The Muscleman finished with 18 points for the Alaska, while Jeron Teng added 13 markers and eight assists. Abu Tratter and Kevin Eboña chipped in 10 points each.

Sidney Onwubere led Rain or Shine with 16 points, while four other E-Painters scored in double digits.

The Aces improve their record to 3-2, while RoS is still third in the standings with 3-1 card.

Alaska will play against San Miguel Beer on Saturday, while Rain or Shine will try to bounce back against Blackwater on Sunday.
