Dennis Rodman's siblings regret he didn't experience Philander's fatherhood
Dennis Rodman's siblings in the Philippines regret that the NBA legend did not get to experience having Philander Jr. as a father.
The elder Rodman died in Pampanga on Tuesday after a three-year battle with prostate cancer. He was 79 years old.
In Ivan Mayrina's report for "24 Oras," Dennis' half-sister Fina described Philander as a kind and loving dad who took care of his children.
"Kahit na marami kami, kahit na iba-iba 'yung mga magulang, nanay namin, tinrato niya pa rin kaming pare-parehas na anak niya," she said.
Philander, who served in the United States Air Force and a veteran of the Vietnam War, had 29 children with 16 different women. Nine of kids are in the Philippines, where he had lived since the 1970s.
He had an estranged relationship with his son Dennis, but the two reunited in 2012 when the Hall of Famer visited the country for an exhibition game. That was the first time they met in over 40 years.
"Masama ang loob niya sa tatay ko na dahil nga iniwan daw siya," said Michelle Rodman, one of Dennis' half-sisters. "Sana naman ngayon na wala 'yung tatay namin, mapatawad na siya kasi kung wala 'yung tatay ko wala din siya sa mundong ito." —MGP, GMA News
