FIBA announces schedule of 2023 World Cup
It's official: the 2023 FIBA World Cup will be held on August 25 to September 10, 2023.
FIBA confirmed the dates in a press release on Monday and also announced the launch of the tournament website.
This came despite the uncertainty surrounding the resumption of sports leagues due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
All FIBA competitions have been postponed starting March 13, but the basketball governing body later announced a new schedule for the 3x3 World Tour.
The World Cup qualifiers are set to take place in six windows starting November 2021 to February 2023.
The Philippines, Indonesia, and Japan will jointly host the main tournament. This marks the first time the tournament will be held in more than one country.
The group phase will be held in all three countries while the final phase will be in Manila. —MGP, GMA News
