Bleacher Report drops Kai Sotto mini documentary
Sports website Bleacher Report has released a mini documentary featuring Filipino teen sensation Kai Sotto.
The former UAAP juniors MVP and Batang Gilas stalwart has been turning heads in the United States after his family moved to Atlanta to chase his NBA dream.
Sotto, 17, talked about his desire to represent the Philippines and the changes in his life after crossing the Pacific.
"There haven't been any full-bloodied Filipino that has been to the NBA and I just wanna be the first one," he said. "I just wanna show everyone that we can also make it."
The 7-foot-2 center has attracted the attention of several NCAA Division I basketball programs, including Auburn, Georgia Tech, and DePaul.

"I didn't really know a lot of things about college recruitment 'cause in the Philippines I was still at the 10th grade," he said. "But when I came here I just got a little shocked that things are happening so fast."
The teenager also participated in the Basketball Without Borders camp organized by the NBA and even met Toronto Raptors forward Pascal Siakam.
According to Jeremiah Buswell, a partner for The Skill Factory where Sotto currently trains, the camp helped him see his level compared to other basketball prospects.
"I see Kai as somebody with a world of potential and sky is really the limit," he said. "But also there's a short time to get there and it has to be deliberate in making those goals achievable."

Buswell said Sotto is starting to make his potential into a reality.
"So as long as he continues to move forward and progress he's got every opportunity in the world to be a good NBA player," he said.
Sotto said he appreciates all the Filipinos who are following his journey and supporting him all the way.
"I just use it as a motivation and inspiration to work even harder to make them proud," he said. --MGP, GMA News
