June Mar Fajardo bags historic 6th straight MVP plum


San Miguel Beermen center June Mar Fajardo is the Most Valuable Player of the PBA for the sixth season in a row.

 

 

Fajardo officially claimed the MVP plum on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, where the PBA held the Leo Awards to formally close its 44th season prior to the opening of the new one.

Fajardo became the first and only player in the league with six MVP awards.

He averaged 18.7 points and 13 rebounds per game for San Miguel.

Fajardo compiled a total of 3,140 points that were composed of statistical points (1,207), media votes (1,290), player votes (343), and PBA votes (300).

“The Kraken” bested TNT’s Jayson Castro, NorthPort’s Christian Standhardinger and Rookie of the Year CJ Perez of Columbian.

Aside from the MVP award, Fajardo was also part of the First Mythical Team alongside NorthPort’s Christian Standhardinger and Sean Anthony, TNT’s Jayson Castro and Rookie of the Year CJ Perez of Columbian Dyip.

Fajardo was also named to the All-Defensive Team alongside his teammate Chris Ross, Barangay Ginebra’s Japeth Aguilar, Anthony and Perez. — LA/BM, GMA News
