June Mar Fajardo 'out indefinitely' after hurting leg in practice

Five-time PBA Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo is out indefinitely after hurting his leg during team practice on Monday.

In a statement, San Miguel Beer announced that the 6-foot-10 center suffered a complete fracture in his right tibia. He underwent surgery on Tuesday and will go through rehabilitation.

His absence is a big blow to the Beermen, who are gunning for their sixth straight championship at the All-Filipino conference.

"The team regrets that he won't be able to play for the San Miguel Beermen in the Philippine Cup," the statement read. "June Mar, for his part, is also saddened that he may not be able to join any upcoming international competition."

Fajardo is a veteran of Gilas Pilipinas and recently played at the Southeast Asian Games, where the team won the gold medal.

He was not included in the 24-man pool for the first window of the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers. The Philippines is set to play against Thailand and Indonesia. —MGP, GMA News
