Gilas Pilipinas women score 1st SEA Games gold in 3x3 basketball
Afril Bernardino led the Gilas Pilipinas women's team to its first gold medal in 3x3 basketball at the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games on Monday at FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan City.
Bernardino pumped in 10 points in the gold medal match.
The squad of Bernardino, Jack Animam, Clare Castro, and Janine Pontejos defeated Thailand, 17-13, in the final.
En route to the gold, the women's team powered through Myanmar (21-3), Malaysia (15-13), and Indonesia (16-13) on Sunday. The squad opened Monday's slate by winning over Vietnam (21-14), but lost to Thailand (22-20).

Malaysia settled for bronze with their win over Vietnam, 21-7.
This is the first gold medal given to 3x3 basketball in the SEA Games.
