UAAP Season 82: UST’s Chabi Yo bags MVP plum, Kobe Paras makes it to Mythical Five
University of Santo Tomas big man Soulemane Chabi Yo bagged the UAAP Season 82 Most Valuable Player award, while fellow Thomasian Mark Nonoy was named Rookie of the Year.
Chabi Yo capped the elimination rounds with an average of 16.93 points and 14.71 boards per game to lead UST to a return to the Final Four.

Nonoy, meanwhile, bested other players eligible for the award with his performance averaging 10 points per game, 3.86 rebounds, and 2.29 assists.
UP prized recruit Kobe Paras made it to the season’s mythical five, together with MVP Chabi Yo, De La Salle University standouts Justine Baltazar and Jamie Malonzo, and UE gunner Rey Suerte.
Paras led the Maroons to their second straight Final Four stint with 17.42 points and 5.67 rebounds per game.
One-and-done player Malonzo averaged 15.77 ppg and 9.92 boards, while big man Baltazar made 15.14 ppg and 11.79 rebounds in La Salle’s failed bid to return to the Final Four.
UE’s Suerte listed 17.57 ppg and 6.79 rebs.
The individual awards will be given on November 20, before the first game of the Finals. — LA, GMA News
