Senate suspends session as solons watch historic UP win over Adamson

The Senate on Wednesday afternoon suspended its session as its leadership and several senators watched the game between the UP Maroons and the Adamson Falcons.

According to a Facebook post by Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri, the lawmakers watched the historic game for UP, which last reached the Final Four in 1997.

The post showed Senate President Vicente Sotto III, Zubiri, Minority Leader Franklin Drilon and Senator Richard Gordon watching the game on TV.

Zubiri, Drilon and Gordon are all UP alumni. Sotto is a graduate of Colegio de San Juan De Letran.

The win brought the Maroons into the UAAP Finals for the first time since the Benjie Paras-led squad beat the UE Red Warriors for the title in 1986.

"Senate suspends session as the leadership from the Senate President to the Minority and Majority floor leaders and several U.P. Senators watching the super exciting game!!" Zubiri said in his post.

"There is by the way 11 Senators from UP. All proud Maroons!!
GO UP!!! Congrats to my Alma mater in getting into the finals of UAAP Basketball Championships!!" he added. —NB, GMA News
