Marc Pingris apologizes for ‘selfie’ incident
Former Gilas forward Marc Pingris has apologized for the "selfie" incident just after the chaotic brawl that marred the game between Gilas Pilipinas and Australia during the FIBA World Cup qualifier on Monday night.
On Instagram, Pingris clarified he meant "no disrespect to anyone," but admitted the timing of taking a selfie was "inappropriate."
"I sincerely apologize to everyone who were offended by the selfie that i took during the break of the Gilas Pilipinas vs. Australia game. While I honestly meant no disrespect to anyone, I realized that the timing was inappropriate."
Pingris also promised to be "circumspect" the next time, and "conduct myself better especially in my support of the Gilas Pilipinas National Team."
"Sorry talaga tao lang talaga ako nag kakamali. patawad po sa lahat. Thank you for your understanding," he ended.
The "selfie" incident happened while officials were reviewing the video of the fight.
Australia was victorious over the Philippines, 89-53, by default. — RSJ, GMA News
