UST welcomes Aldin Ayo as head coach of the Growling Tigers

The University of Santo Tomas on Monday morning released a statement, officially appointing Aldin Ayo as the head coach of the UST Growling Tigers.

"As the University moves forward in preparation for the next season, the Thomasian community welcomes the new head coach of the UST Growling Tigers, Coach Aldin Ayo," said in UST's statement.

UST cited Ayo's discipline in training student athletes as one of the reasons why the España-based squad sought his services. "This is the same ideal that UST has advocated since the inception of its athletic program," it added.

The statement also said Ayo is a "well-accomplished coach who is likewise more than willing to accommodate the University's modest salary scheme."

The official appointment of Ayo comes weeks after rumors of the champion coach's exit from DLSU. Ayo led the Green Archers to a championship in 2016 and to a Finals stint just last December.

Last November, Boy Sablan resigned from the España-based squad after a disappointing two-year stint as head coach.

The University of Santo Tomas’ student paper Varsitarian earlier confirmed that Ayo has inked a six-year deal with the  Growling Tigers— LA, GMA News
