Fil-Am son of NBA's Metta World Peace to play for Gilas Pilipinas?

The former NBA star Metta World Peace wants his half-Pinoy son, Jeron Artest, to take a shot at qualifying to play for Gilas Pilipinas.

The one-time Defensive Player of the Year hoped for his son to play for a national team — something he had never achieved throughout his basketball career, Connie Sison reported on "Balitanghali" on Monday.

World Peace revealed in a news report that his sixteen-year-old son applied for a Filipino passport to be able to play for the men's basketball team representing the Philippines, Gilas Pilipinas.

Jeron had Filipino blood in his veins though his pinay mother, Jennifer Palma.

World Peace entered the league as Ron Artest in 1999 before becoming changing his name in 2011. — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
