UAAP: UP breaks 19-game losing streak vs. UST
The UP Fighting Maroons ended their 19-game losing streak against the UST Growling Tigers with a 74-69 victory in Season 79 of the UAAP Men's Basketball Competition on Sunday.
The Maroons relied on Paul Desiderio for 16 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists, while Noah Webb had nine points. Jett Manuel was limited to eight markers off a paltry 2 of 13 shooting clip, but the rest of the bench picked up the scoring with Diego Dario, Dave Moralde, Javi Gomez De Liano, and Kyles Lao tallying six points each.
Up 53-46 heading into the final turn, UP was able to ward off UST's comeback attempts. Jeepy Faundo and Zach Huang accounted for 15 of the Tigers' 22 points in the fourth, but Desiderio and Moralde had six each of the team's 21 points in the final 10 minutes to keep UST at bay.
