Star to trade James Yap to Rain or Shine for Paul Lee —report

The Star Hotshots are set to trade superstar guard James Yap to the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in exchange for Paul Lee, according to a report on Spin.ph.

The sports website is citing a source saying the transaction was "a done deal."

Yap has been the longtime face of the Purefoods franchise, winning Most Valuable Player awards in 2006 and 2010. He won two finals MVP awards when the team then known as the San Mig Coffee Mixers won a grand slam in 2014.

Lee, meanwhile, has been the main man for Rain or Shine since he was drafted in 2011, when he won Rookie of the Year honors. He was the finals MVP when the Elasto Painters won the Commissioner's Cup this year.

Yap is no stranger to the Rain or Shine organization, having played for the Welcoat franchise in the defunct Philippine Basketball League as an amateur. —JST, GMA News
