The injury bug continues for top PBA stars as James Yap hurt his right calf in Star's lopsided 117-98 loss to San Miguel Beer on Sunday.

The former Most Valuable Player was having a good game with 15 of his 17 points in the first quarter, but his Easter turned sour in the middle of the third frame after feeling something pop in his leg.

Yap did not return for the remainder of the match as team staff iced his leg on the bench.

"Dun lang sa may half pinasa lang saken 'yung bola. So patakbo ako, bigla lang pumutok. Wala na, hindi na ako nakagalaw," he recounted after the game.

Yap shot a 7-of-12 clip during the game and dished two assists in 27 minutes of play, but his stellar performance was put to a grounding halt after suffering the injury.

"Masarap na sana. Sarap na ng feeling e. Wala, ganun talaga basketball, di mo malalaman kung anong mangyayari," he said.

The veteran shooting guard, who was limping when he came out of the dug out, said he will have his calf checked on Monday.

Yap is the latest PBA star to get hurt in the Commissioner's Cup, with June Mar Fajardo, Jayson Castro, Terrence Romeo, and Paul Lee also succumbing to injuries. — APG, GMA News
