UAAP: UE ends season with win over UP

The UE Red Warriors ended their season on a high note, defeating the UP Maroons, 79-67, on Wednesday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Clark Derige led the Warriors with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Paul Varilla added 14 points and six boards. Team captain Chris Javier ended his UAAP stint with 13 points, six rebounds and three assists.

The Warriors found themselves down by one after the opening period, 18-17, before turning up the scoring in the second. UE leaned on their pesky defense to force UP to a slew of turnovers, limiting the Katipunan-based squad to just 10 points while scoring 20 for themselves.

At the end of the game, UE forced a total of 23 turnovers which they converted to 23 points. The Warriors led by as much as 18.

Paul Desiderio carried UP with 26 points while Henry Asilum added 12. Agu Amar and Mark Juruena chipped in eight and seven points, respectively. - GMA News
