‘COUNCILOR ‘TO, PARE’

Ateneo cager in viral video suspended, may face charges

A member of the Ateneo Blue Eagles basketball team was suspended for the remainder of the current UAAP season after he figured in a roadside altercation that was caught on video, GMA News "24 Oras" reported on Tuesday.

The video, showing an apparently drunk John Apacible, has since gone viral in the social media.

Apacible, who was reportedly invited for questioning by the Quezon City police following his heated exchange with the motorist who took the video, may also face charges for fleeing a police investigation.

He may also face a charge of usurpation of authority because he claimed to be a councilor while he was cursing and challenging the other motorist to a fist-fight.

Apacible has apologized and felt shame for his actions and said he was ready to face the consequences.

His letter of apology was posted on the official Facebook page of the Ateneo de Manila University late Tuesday evening.
