PBA: Paul Lee admits frustration over yet another title-less season for Rain or Shine

Rain or Shine star Paul Lee admitted feeling frustrated over another championship-less season for the Elasto Painters as they bowed to San Miguel Beer in the semifinals of the Governors' Cup on Wednesday night.

The perennial title contenders consistently qualified for the top four spots in the last seven conferences and even reached the finals three times, but they still failed to make it all the way and win the championship.

Against the Beermen, they went down in four games in the best-of-five series after struggling to play catch-up with the Philippine Cup champions, effectively ending their season with no rings to show.

"S'yempre nakaka-frustrate din, kasi 'yun, nag-semis naman kayo, alam mo naman sa sarili mo na kaya naman makapasok ng finals, pero may kulang talaga e," Lee told reporters after their 117-100 Game Four loss against SMB.

The combo guard said they have the off-season to assess themselves and their game and hopefully find a way to figure out how to put a stop to their heartbreak losses in series battles deep into the playoffs.

"Every year ganun 'yung nangyayari sa amin," he said. "Ito 'yung good time, parang magandang panahon, na maisip namin lahat kung ano talaga 'yung kulang sa team namin."

Rain or Shine's first and only championship in the PBA came in 2012 Governors' Cup against the B-Meg Llamados, with Best Import Jamelle Cornley as their reinforcement.

Asked what was the difference with the team then and now, Lee said they just wanted to win it all during that time.

"Ngayon kung mas gugustuhin namin at mas paghihirapan namin, siguro iba 'yung scenario," he said. - RAF, GMA News
