Former Ginebra import found dead at LA home


Basketball player Jackson Vroman, who once served as import for Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the PBA, was found dead in his home in Los Angeles County, California on Monday.

The news of the former Iowa State forward's passing was confirmed by the Des Moines Register, quoting the Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner of LA county.

Vroman was 34. The cause of death was not yet known.

Reports of Vroman's death circulated on social media hours before confirmation, with speculation that he had died of a car crah.

Vroman played two seasons in the NBA before continuing to play overseas professionally. Notably, he was naturalized as a citizen of Lebanon to play for the squad in the FIBA Asia Championship in 2009.

He suited up for the Gin Kings in the 2012 Commissioner's Cup, leading the team to the semifinals where they lost to the eventual champion B-MEG Llamados. - JST, GMA News
