Kia import Hamady N'diaye was taken to the hospital after hurting his eye in the Carnival's lopsided 101-63 loss to Alaska on Friday.
Aces forward Calvin Abueva accidentally scraped N'Diaye's eye during a hustle play under the rim in the third quarter, causing the Senegalese reinforcement to double over in pain.
N'diaye was able to make both of his free throws even with one eye shut, but he instantly gestured to be substituted out as he went back for defense.
"Hindi pa namin alam kung anong status nung injury niya," said Kia assistant coach Chito Victolero after the game. "Hopefully he's okay."
The seven-foot shot blocker finished with 18 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks in 30 minutes of play.
"Kanina gusto niyang pumasok pa but I told him to rest na lang," Victolero said about his prized import, who played against Gilas Pilipinas in the FIBA World Cup last year.
Kia is currently tied for sixth with Talk 'N Text after dropping to 3-3, so the coach did not want to risk worsening N'diaye's injury ahead of their crucial games.
The Carnival's next assignment is top team Barako Bull Energy on Wednesday. —JST, GMA News
