PBA: Despite SMB win, Arwind Santos unhappy over technical foul, ejection
By MARISSE PANALIGAN, GMA News
San Miguel Beer's 100-89 victory against Star Hotshots was nothing short of poetic justice for Arwind Santos after getting thrown out of the game early in the fourth quarter on Sunday night.
The Beermen captain was whistled for his second technical foul for flailing his elbows in front of Hotshots import Marqus Blakely, leading to his subsequent ejection from the match.
Despite SMB's win, however, Santos said he was still unhappy about the call.
"Hindi ako masaya dun sa tawag na 'yun e. Dapat warning muna, puwede pa," said the former Most Valuable Player after the game.
Santos, who picked up his first technical foul after getting entangled with Marc Pingris, said that it was never his intention to make contact with Blakely and was merely initiating a psy war.
"Ang basketball kasi para sa akin, andudun 'yung maglalaro ka nang seryoso pero hindi masama na lagyan mo nang konting kakulitan or konting pang-asar," he said.
The forward believes he was slapped with the technical foul after Hotshots head coach Tim Cone vehemently complained to the referees, but said he just kept silent out of respect for the decorated mentor.
"Hindi ko in-expect na bibigyan ng technical 'yun," he said. "Di bale sana kung tinamaan e. Naisip ko nga kanina dapat tinamaan ko na lang para at least talagang totoo pa." - RAF, GMA News
