PHOTO GALLERY: PBA honors 40 Greatest Players
The 15 additions to the PBA's list of Greatest Players to mark the league's 40th anniversary had been feted in an awarding ceremony on Wednesday night at the Resorts World Manila in Pasay City.
Only Marlou Aquino failed to attend the rites, but Marc Pingris, Jimmy Alapag, James Yap, Asi Taulava, Mark Caguioa, Arwind Santos, Jayson Castro, Jayjay Helterbrand, Danny Ildefonso, Eric Menk, Willie Miller, Kelly Williams, Kerby Raymundo, and Chito Loyzaga arrived to join the league's elite.
They all received a small trophy and a commemorative jacket to celebrate their induction, which was witnessed by the initial batch of Greatest Players including Robert Jaworski, Alvin Patrimonio, Jerry Codiñera, Jojo Lastimosa, Hector Calma, Ato Agustin, Allan Caidic, Bogs Adornado, Lim Eng Beng, Vergel Meneses, and Ronnie Magsanoc.
Other members of the 40 Greatest Players who did not make it to the event were Mon Fernandez, Atoy Co, Johnny Abarrientos, Francis Arnaiz, Ricardo Brown, Philip Cezar, Bernard Fabiosa, Danny Florencio, Abet Guidaben, Kenneth Duremdes, Freddie Hubalde, Samboy Lim, Manuel Paner, and Benjie Paras. The league originally feted the 25 Greatest Players on its silver anniversary in 2000.
Meanwhile, active PBA players walked the runway wearing different attires to entertain the audience during intervals.
