PBA: Meralco maintains pristine record, escapes GlobalPort



The Meralco Bolts stayed unbeaten after five games, escaping the GlobalPort Batang Pier, 86-84, on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Josh David led the charge with 33 points, 24 rebounds, five steals, three assists, a block, and the winning basket at the buzzer to gave his team the victory. Gary David also had a huge game off the bench, scoring 22 points in 29 minutes of play.

"Josh was the hero. Great game. Josh is not really an outside shooter; he told me, coach, run the play for me and I'm gonna hit the shot and he did," said Meralco head coach Norman Black. "GlobalPort played very well; they didn't give up.  

With Purefoods and Barako absorbing losses this week, Meralco remains as the only unbeaten team with a 5-0 win-loss slate.

Calvin Warner had 24 points and 16 boards for GlobalPort, but his stat line came with five turnovers. Terrence Romeo struggled for just six makes for 14 points. He did not make any of his six tries from deep. Jewel Ponferada had 10 points and six rebounds, while Denok Miranda and Ronjay Buenafe came off the bench with nine each. - RAF, GMA News
