Jai Reyes had 16 points, four rebounds, and four assists, playing Robin to Josh Davis' Batman to give the Meralco Bolts a 90-80 win over the Kia Carnival on Friday at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
"We did a good job at halftime to instill more energy in our defense," said Meralco head coach Norman Black. "I'm very happy for [Cliff] Hodge whose energy put us on top, [Gary] David who's very consistent, Jai Reyes who got activated yesterday, he played a big role orchestrating the offense. I thought Jai did a good job of stepping up in the absence of Mike Cortez."
Meralco's import paced his team with 19 points, 19 rebounds, and seven steals. The rest of Meralco's starters combined for just 14 points, but Reyes and David were splendid off the bench, with the latter pouring in 25 markers.
Kia's offense got a lot from import PJ Ramos, who towered over Meralco's frontline for 34 points and 21 rebounds. But aside from Virgil Buensuceso, no other Kia player posted double figures. - RAF, GMA News
